    radio frequency
  • A frequency or band of frequencies in the range 104 to 1011 or 1012 Hz, suitable for use in telecommunications

  • an electromagnetic wave frequency between audio and infrared

  • Radio frequency (RF) is a rate of oscillation in the range of about 30 kHz to 300 GHz, which corresponds to the frequency of electrical signals normally used to produce and detect radio waves.

  • (Radio frequencies (RF)) Periodic electrical signals transmitted through air or space.

Learn about and Build A Superhet IC Based AM/FM Radio Receiver. This Superhet 108 AM/FM Radio Kit is a superheterodyne receiver of the standard AM (amplitude modulation) and FM (frequency modulation) broadcast frequencies. The unique design of the Superhet 108 includes an integrated circuit (IC), 9 transistors, 4 diodes, and other related resistors, capacitors, coils, and misc. parts. Because good soldering practices are important, a soldering guide is also provided as well as a component color code and pictorial identification chart. The actual assembly is broken down into 9 sections. The theory of operation for each section, or stage, should be read before the assembly is started. This will provide the student with an understanding of what that stage has been designed to accomplish, and how it actually works. After each assembly you will be instructed to make certain tests and measurements to prove that each section is functioning properly. If a test fails to produce the proper results a troubleshooting guide is provided to help you correct the problem. After all of the stages have been built and tested a final alignment procedure is provided to peak the performance of the receiver and maximize the Superhet 108s reception capabilities. Runs on a standard 9VDC battery, not included. From Elenco.

Dunstable Downs Radio Club 2010 Bootsale. For those viewing these photo's not having an interest in amateur radio or electronics - the bootsale is an annual event where you can buy anything from used electronic test equipment, radio's, transceivers, antenna's, books, general radio junk and computer parts. Some is a bargain, some will never sell as it's nothing but junk. This year I spotted an old Shoreacre ORU (operator radio unit) going for ?2. I was tempted to buy it just to show my wife what I once worked on in the early 1980's. This was a hands free low power UHF transceiver used by the bomb squad in Northern Ireland during the troubles. They were made by Airtech, long gone, then based in Haddenham close to where I live in the UK. Like much of the equipment they manufactured it was then classified, as if the frequencies they operated on were known they could have been used to trigger the bomb being disarmed. I resisted the urge to buy, but it was a close call. Steve 2E0SGB.
